Tony Levin: Bringing It Down To The Bass

Mon, 16 Sep 2024
The one and only Tony Levin, with a new album (Bringing It Down To The Bass), and the all-star Beats Tour on his front burner, stops by to talk about both, and many other things.
Both Markus and Ray instantly felt at ease and conversational with Tony. That led to some good discussion of things present and past!
Look for Tony on the Beat Tour with Adrian Belew, Steve Vai and Danny Carey!
Thanks to our friend Thad Kirk from WHYY for getting us together with Mr. Levin.
And check out Bringing It Down To The Bass, the new album by Tony Levin, as discussed in this episode!
Already looking forward to the next time that Tony stops by!

Johnny Dee Returns To Grill The Imbalanced Brothers Like Salmon!

Mon, 02 Sep 2024
Back in May 2024, in Episode #351, Doro/Tyketto drummer Johnny Dee, our old friend from his Philly days, made the Conshohocken-Frankfurt Connection. During that chat he confided that he, as a listener to the podcast, had questions.
This week, he's back with those queries, and more, apparently. This has never happened on this podcast before, so it's exciting to hear what happens!
Yo, Johnny! Yer up!

First Flights: The Jefferson Airplane!

Mon, 26 Aug 2024
Born of psychedelia (when "it" was still good) and the S.F. scene of the mid-1960s, the Imbalanced Boys dig into the formation and early ways of this R&RHOF (class of 1996) band this week!
2400 Fulton Street, their mansion's address, was Golden Gate Park-adjacent, and a short walk to the Grateful Dead's house "in the Haight." In the early daze of the scene, things were "still coming together." Later, Marty, Grace, Jorma, Paul, Jack & Spencer would rock the universe!
In that atmosphere Blind Thomas Jefferson Airplane formed and took flight. Prime flying time, festival glory, plus years of commercial success can't prevent major changes, as the story unfolds.
Catch the tale in this week's episode, plus some really groooovy tunes!

For the focus of this week's episode, see the attached guitar meme from @SongStoriesRewind which casts a wide net, and sparks the discussion of axes and their masters.
Paul Hammond knows both ends of that stick!
His long history as a founding member of the top-shelf Led Zeppelin tribute, Get The Led Out is part of the discussion (see Jimmy Page double-neck!), as is his love and knowledge of guitars.
