Economy Creators
One Spark. Eleven Stories. The Economy Creators Movement Begins.

Every movement begins with a single idea.

For Economy Creators™, that idea started as one monthly workshop.

Then it became an eBook.

Then a podcast and radio show.

Now it has grown into something even bigger: The Economy Creators Anthology.

In this special episode, Mary Farias introduces all 11 co-authors for the very first time, sharing the inspiration behind the project and inviting each contributor to preview the story they'll be bringing to the book.

Each chapter is unique.

Each journey is different.

Yet together they tell one larger story:

What happens when ordinary people decide to create their own economy?

You'll meet entrepreneurs, business owners, coaches, nonprofit leaders, authors, health advocates, speakers, and changemakers whose experiences span decades of perseverance, faith, personal growth, recovery, leadership, resilience, and reinvention.

In this episode you'll hear from:

✨ Lynn Lionhood, whose chapter shares how faith, family, and life's unexpected challenges shaped her into a servant leader dedicated to helping others.

✨ Lorenzo (LA) Rothery, who reminds us it's never too late to pursue the entrepreneurial dream you've carried your entire life.

✨ Kevin Smith, founder of Kindness Worldwide, who reveals how one simple act of kindness became a global movement.

✨ John Corpuz, who transformed a life-threatening cancer diagnosis into a story of gratitude, resilience, and hope.

✨ Donna Vanderhoff, whose chapter chronicles the lifelong journey from addiction to sobriety, healing, and purpose.

✨ Alicia J. Alexander, who shares how faith, vision, and organizational excellence can transform workplaces and leadership.

✨ Rian Nilsen, who discovered that the clues leading him toward entrepreneurship had been present throughout his entire life.

✨ Noel Powers, who explores how entrepreneurs build brands that create lasting influence rather than simply selling products.

✨ Nicole Borghi, whose story reveals the power of visibility, storytelling, and embracing your own journey before helping others share theirs.

✨ Colleen Stubbs, who teaches entrepreneurs that it's possible to build both a thriving business and a fulfilling life.

✨ Brian P. Swift, whose remarkable journey reminds us that our greatest limitations often become our greatest strengths—and that success is about much more than money.

Throughout the episode, one message becomes unmistakably clear:

An economy isn't simply something we earn.

It's something we intentionally create through our experiences, gifts, relationships, decisions, and willingness to serve others.

Whether your dream is to build a business, write a book, launch a nonprofit, improve lives, or simply become the highest version of yourself, these eleven stories offer encouragement that every meaningful journey begins with a single decision.

Perhaps the next story to be written…

is yours.

Bet on Yourself: From Employee Thinking to Creator Thinking

Tue, 30 Jun 2026
Bet on Yourself: From Employee Thinking to Creator Thinking with Rian Nilsen

What if the stability you've been protecting is actually keeping you from the life you're meant to live?

In this inspiring episode of Economy Creators™, Mary sits down with entrepreneur, personal growth advocate, and Economy Creators Anthology co-author Rian Nilsen to explore the journey from employee thinking to creator thinking.

For more than 30 years, Rian built a successful career in retail leadership and human resources. From the outside, life looked secure. But internally, he knew something was missing.

As he explains, everything he created—programs, policies, and systems—belonged to someone else. When he left, all of it stayed behind.

That realization led him to ask a powerful question:

What would it look like to create an economy that truly belonged to me?

In this conversation, Mary and Rian discuss:

The difference between employee thinking and creator thinking
Why identity shapes results more than circumstances
The importance of self-image in personal and professional growth
Why waiting until you feel "ready" often keeps you stuck
How consistent action creates confidence
The role of relationships, partnerships, and community in building your own economy
Why autonomy—not just income—is one of life's greatest freedoms

One of the most memorable moments comes when Rian describes feeling like he was holding a beach ball underwater. The longer he tried to keep it down, the more exhausting life became. Finally, he let go—and that became the beginning of a completely new chapter.

Mary also expands on one of the episode's central ideas: self-image.

How we see ourselves determines how we respond to every circumstance. When we identify as capable and growing, we begin to see opportunities where others see obstacles.

As Rian says:

"Identity shapes results far more than circumstances do."

Throughout the conversation, another theme emerges: don't wait.

You don't need every answer before you begin.

Sometimes willingness comes before confidence.

Sometimes action creates clarity.

And sometimes the life you've been dreaming about is waiting on the other side of one courageous decision.

Rian leaves listeners with one final challenge:

"Don't spend your life protecting stability so much that you never fully bet on yourself."

If you've been feeling an inner pull toward something more, this episode will encourage you to trust that desire, take the next step, and begin creating a YOU-shaped economy.
