Jack Walters is the co-founder and CEO of HapWare. Our mission is to make nonverbal communication universally accessible and our flagship product ALEYE is made up of a wristband and smart glasses detects facial expressions, emotions, gestures, and body language in real time and translates them into precise haptic patterns so you can stay present at school, at work, and in everyday life. The camera reads the visual cues and the wristband converts each visual cue into something you can feel through haptic feedback. Drawing on his background as a mechanical engineer, student-athlete, and advocate for the blind and low-vision community, Jack leads HapWare in its mission to make social, educational and professional spaces more accessible.

Hi Aaron,

Hope you're doing great.

I’m Rishabh Jain, working remotely as a Data and Applied Scientist at Microsoft for the past five years. My work focuses on building intelligent systems using AI, especially large language models — the technology that’s redefining how we communicate, work, and think.

I completed my Master’s in Mathematics and Computing from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee — one of the premier institutes in India for engineering and technological education. IITs are known globally for producing some of the top minds in tech and innovation, and being part of that ecosystem has shaped a big part of who I am today.

I live with a progressive visual disability called Retinitis Pigmentosa, and I’ve been completely blind since the age of 16. But that hasn’t stopped me from exploring the world — quite literally. I love travelling and especially enjoy the calm of beaches and the vibrance of nature. Exploring different cultures across countries is something that deeply inspires me and brings me a sense of connection and learning.

Heidi Lourens is a Counselling Psychologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. She lost most of her sight as an infant due to a rare childhood eye cancer, retinoblastoma. After attending a school for the blind, she went on to study at Stellenbosch University, where she completed her master’s degree in Counselling Psychology in 2009 and her doctorate in 2015.
Heidi lives in South Africa with her black guide dog, Upton, and three cats. Outside of academia, she enjoys cooking, creating perfume reviews on her YouTube channel, and spending time with friends.
